Brake Repair service we offer

Brake Inspection

A brake inspection is a thorough examination of the entire brake system to check for any issues or wear. This includes checking the brake pads, rotors, shoes, fluid levels, and all other components of the brake system. This service is recommended to be done on a regular basis to ensure the safety of the vehicle and its passengers.

Hydraulic Brake Fluid

Brake fluid is a hydraulic fluid that is used to transfer the force from the brake pedal to the brake calipers. It can become contaminated over time and may need to be replaced to ensure proper braking performance.

Brake Pads

Brake pads are the friction material that presses against the brake rotor to slow down or stop the vehicle. They need to be replaced when they become worn down and can no longer provide adequate braking power

Brake Rotors

Brake rotors are the circular discs that the brake pads press against to slow down or stop the vehicle. They can become worn down over time and may need to be replaced or resurfaced.

Brake Shoes

Brake shoes are used in drum brake systems and press against the brake drum to slow down or stop the vehicle. They can become worn down over time and may need to be replaced.

Electronic Anti-lock Brake Sensors

These sensors monitor the speed of the wheels and send signals to the vehicle’s computer to activate the anti-lock braking system (ABS). They can malfunction and may need to be replaced to ensure proper ABS function.

Power Brake Booster

The power brake booster is a device that helps to amplify the force applied to the brake pedal, making it easier to brake. It can malfunction and may need to be replaced.

Common Indications of brake problems in your car

Squealing or grinding noises

If you hear squealing or grinding noises when you press the brake pedal, it could be a sign that your brake pads are worn and need to be replaced.

Vibration or pulsation

If you feel vibration or pulsation in the brake pedal when you press it, it could be a sign of worn rotors or brake pads that need to be replaced.

Reduced braking power

If you notice that your car is taking longer to come to a stop or that the brakes feel less responsive than usual, it could be a sign of worn brake pads or a malfunctioning brake system.

Brake Warning light

Many cars have a warning light on the dashboard that will illuminate when there is a problem with the brake system. If you notice this light coming on, it’s important to have your brakes checked as soon as possible.

Leakage

If you notice any leakage or fluid on the ground beneath your car, it could be a sign that there is a problem with your brake system and you should have it checked as soon as possible.

Pulling to one side

If you notice that your car is pulling to one side when you brake, it could be a sign of uneven wear on the brake pads or a problem with the brake system.

If you notice any of these signs, it’s important to have your brakes checked as soon as possible to avoid further damage to the brake system and to ensure your safety and other drivers on the road. I knew I was getting close to requiring a brake job soon, so I started doing some of my own on-line research. It didn't take long before I found myself reading about KMF. Since they weren't too far from home, I decided to drop by and check out the place in person. Once there, I met and spent quite awhile talking to Mike and he answered all my questions and address each of my specific concerns in detail and with patience. Satisfied, I made an appointment for a complete break job. On the day of my appointment they were ready for me without delay. When my car was ready, I picked it up later that same day. Even without asking he checked my oil level, noticed I was low, and recommended I top it up. What company does those extras anymore? I'll tell ya who....... Mike and KMF Automotive. If you wanna cheep break job, do it yourself. If you want a professional job, done right the first time, with extra attention to the details. Go see Mike at KMF, you wont be disappointed. Tell him Parch sent you.

KMF Automotive has helped me tremendously over the past year. Mike explains every detail necessary, which I really appreciate. The prices are reasonable for the services provided. I have had oil changes, tire work, and brake repairs done here, and every time the service has been top-notch. They are my go to mechanic shop, especially when something urgent comes up. The team is super helpful, and I highly recommend them to anyone who needs a reliable mechanic!

I found this place for my 2020 Mercedes GLC annual maintenance (Dealership costs too much after the maintenance package runs out). I am impressed of how smooth and quick the maintenance was done. I felt well notified from KMF on what needed to be replaced when they inspected the car. Pricing are transparent, I was told how much individual line item costs before performing it. I also did brakes replacement here. They listened to my concern, explained how modern European cars' brake work, and offered good alternatives other than OEM brakes. While driving back home, I already feel the new brakes are much quieter than OEM! I will definitely come again for next year maintenance. Highly recommend to others as well!

How do I know my brakes need repair?

Squealing or grinding when you brake, a vibrating or pulsing pedal, longer stopping distances, the brake warning light, fluid under the car, or the car pulling to one side when you brake. If you notice any of these, have the brakes checked as soon as possible.

What does a brake inspection include?

We check the pads, rotors, shoes, brake fluid level and condition, and the rest of the system, including the ABS sensors and power brake booster where needed. You get a clear explanation of what we found before any work begins.

Do I always need new rotors with new brake pads?

Not always. Rotors that are still within specification can sometimes be resurfaced, while worn or damaged rotors need replacing. We measure them and tell you which applies before doing the work.

Is it safe to drive with the brake warning light on?

The light means the system has detected a problem, so have the brakes checked as soon as possible. If the pedal feels soft, sinks toward the floor or the car pulls hard when braking, avoid driving and call us.

How often should my brakes be checked?

Regular brake inspections keep you and your passengers safe. A good rule is to have them looked at with your routine maintenance, and right away whenever you notice noise, vibration or a change in how the pedal feels.
